WELCOME to my website!
I'm very busy these days doing what I love: teaching, writing, and editing. I currently lecture at Texas A&M University, where I help pre-med students improve their writing and revising skills. I'm also an intern/graphics editor at Science Editor, the publication for the Council of Science Editors. In addition, I volunteer as a scientific editor for researchers from developing countries to help them publish their research in English-language journals.
With my unique education, I have a strong background in both science and science editing. I have a master's degree in biology from Texas A&M University, where I researched genetics and RNA interference. I also have a master's degree from the science and technology journalism program, again from A&M, where I improved my writing and editing skills.
Like many others, my path to science journalism was long and circular. I like to tell people that I always know where I'm going: I just like to take the scenic route :-). To learn more about me, please follow the links below, or click on the tabs at the top of the page.

BiographyI was born in Spain, but my dad was from Indiana, and my mother was from Thailand--which makes for an interesting culinary background :-). My favorite foods are Thai lemongrass soup, and fried okra (with ranch dipping sauce). In my spare time, I enjoy following food blogs and trying new recipes. Read more.

Editing PhilosophyIf you're a researcher, you may wonder how a science editor can help you. My role as an editor is to make your manuscript more accessible to your readers. I use my education and expertise to address issues that might keep your paper from being published, or a reader from fully engaging in your work. Read more.

Teaching PhilosophyI currently teach a writing-intensive course that not only
improves students’ writing and revising skills, but also emphasizes scientific
concepts. As an educator, I try to create
a dynamic, engaging environment that encourages students to be independent,
motivated learners. Read more.
